We like to ensure that our patients are always receiving the best treatments available. To do this we ensure we are always up to date with new technologies and treatments. That’s why, instead of conventional fixed braces we now use ‘Damon Braces’.
Damon systems use a ‘sliding door’ mechanism to connect archwires to the bracket this allows the wire to move more freely. This low-friction nature of the system means that, in most cases, Damon systems have been proven to move teeth much quicker than most conventional braces, meaning less time in the dental chair to achieve your dream smile.
This also means that lighter forces can be applied, using shape-memory wires, to gently guide your teeth into their new position. This means that many patients report less discomfort than traditional braces.
Another benefit of Damon Braces not using elastic ties is that they are easier to keep clean. Elastic ties are known to collect plaque, therefore harbouring bacteria, as well as appearing stained.
Damon braces are effective in
- Achieving a broad, natural looking smile – a broad dental arch not only provides a beautiful smile but can also aid in facial support. This helps convey a more youthful appearance.
- Up-righting tipped teeth – although teeth may appear straight, they may still be tipped or flared out. Damon works to correct this. This helps the jaws to function properly and can protect against unnecessary, excessive tooth wear.
- Treating ‘gummy’ smiles – due to precise and smooth movements, Damon systems are often more effective in the treating of ‘gummy’ smiles than many traditional braces.
