Teeth Whitening

Brighten your smile with teeth whitening

Achieve a visibly whiter smile and an even, natural finish

Teeth can lose their natural whiteness for several reasons including diet, aging, certain medications, smoking, and trauma. A brighter smile can be achieved with our teeth whitening, a safe treatment that is completed by qualified dentists.

Teeth whitening is a gentle chemical process used to eliminate discolouration and lighten teeth, leaving you to enjoy a whiter, brighter, and more youthful appearance.

At Clarendon Dental, we offer both in-surgery and at-home whitening options to help you achieve that brighter smile, while fitting into your schedule and budget.

Immediate results with Zoom! Whitening

This in-surgery whitening system uses a special whitening light to achieve a brighter smile in just one appointment. The unique formula provides excellent whitening results and protects the tooth’s enamel, reducing sensitivity.

Treatment steps

  • The gums and lips are protected by the retractor and the vitamin E oil, which is applied to avoid cracking lips.
  • The whitening gel is applied to the teeth.
  • A special light is used to activate the chemical and speed up the whitening process, which takes place in stages.
  • At each stage, the gel is removed, and the teeth are cleaned so the level of whitening can be carefully monitored.

Aftercare

  • Help to maintain your whiter teeth by avoiding food and drink that may stain and by staying on top of your oral hygiene. Although the results of whitening are not permanent, additional gel can be purchased and mouth trays can be used at home if a top-up is necessary.

Teeth Whitening FAQs

Mild tooth sensitivity or gum irritation can be a side effect during the whitening process, but this is usually temporary. If you notice sensitivity or irritation, your dentist might suggest reducing the frequency or duration of the whitening gel application. We advise using toothpaste designed for sensitive teeth, which can ease any discomfort. Enlighten Serum can also help reduce sensitivity and repair enamel and prolong the effects of teeth whitening. Be sure to talk to us if you have any concerns following teeth whitening.

How long your teeth stay white after treatment is dependent on you! Factors like your initial tooth shade, diet, and lifestyle choices can all influence the longevity of your results. To help you maintain your bright smile, we provide top-up trays after your treatment. You can also purchase top up gel from the practice.

Teeth whitening treatment does not work on dental restorations like veneers, crowns, dentures, or bridges. After whitening, you may notice a difference in shade between these restorations and your natural teeth. If possible, you may want to whiten your teeth before having these restorations placed. Veneers or crowns can be replaced to match your new tooth colour, though this would come at an additional cost. Please feel free to discuss your options with us.
